Kitty is PuTTY with extra features. It adds capabilities that are useful for many of us.

The popularity is being driven by current Linux fads for 1. tiling wms 2. ricing, both of which are elitist-masochistic. Kitty has chased features at the expense of consideration to the end-user. E.g. it is "colorful" but non-configurably assumes sRGB colorspace and throws errors if this isn't present.

I like the ability to send/hide to the system tray and the ability to automatically reconnect on a connection failure.
