Voktty is an open-source, ultra-lightweight (~8MB) terminal-first developer workspace and AI-native environment built with Tauri 2, Rust, React 19, and xterm.js WebGL. Designed as a fast, resource-friendly alternative to heavy Electron IDEs and proprietary AI terminals, Voktty combines a high-performance terminal multiplexer with integrated code editing, privacy-first AI assistance, and remote infrastructure management.

  • GPU-Accelerated Terminal: WebGL-rendered terminal with tabs, split panes, command-aware execution blocks, and native shell integration (PowerShell, Bash, Zsh, Fish).
  • Native MCP Client: First-class support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to integrate local offline LLMs (Ollama, LM Studio, MLX) or cloud providers (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini).
  • Built-in Editor & Debugging: Lightweight CodeMirror 6 workbench with opt-in LSP, DAP debugging, and AI-assisted diff reviews.
  • Remote Infrastructure: Visual connection managers for SSH (with local/remote port forwarding), WSL, and Docker container lifecycles.

  • Privacy & Local-First: Zero first-party telemetry, no mandatory accounts, and credentials stored securely in the native OS keychain.
