Master Password is a bit different from other password managers. It actually doesn't store your passwords anywhere; instead, it uses an algorithm based on the site you are viewing. Master Password may suit some people that really don't want their passwords stored ANYWHERE. It can be a bit messy, but it's a fun idea and it's worth a shot.

It is a different app, as it is a password generator, not a password manager.

Genius invention. Doesn't store your passwords anywhere; it generates them everytime you put in the same Master password and username/website domain. Therefore, your password database can't be hacked - it doesn't exist. However, it's harder to change passwords for accounts because you have to use the iteration feature. Test it to see if it suits your needs. Thumbs up for open source also. Otherwise, ditch LastPass and go for KeePass.

You ought to prefer Padlock over Lastpass, not least because Lastpass is closed source (not as trustworthy) and because it's known that lastpass doesn't encrypt the domain names of your accounts (which means they know where you go online). A better feature set is available with Bitwarden (synced, open source) and KeepassXC (local, open source).

It is genuinely foolish to rely on closed source apps to store your most private data if open source alternatives exist. Keeper is closed source. Bitwarden and KeePassXC are open source alternatives to Lastpass. They both also have more features, are free or very cheap and fully encrypt your database, which Lastpass does not.

LessPass is an open source password manager. Instead of syncing a database of passwords, it generates them locally every time you put in a domain name, login and master password. There is no central database for hackers to break into.

One of the things that lastpass does is manage your passwords. This just generates passwords by making a hash of a provided phrase and the site. It's also not as secure as it purports to be.

LessPass is an alternative to LastPass but is more similar to Master Password in its approach. It doesn't save or "remember" your passwords in any way. It's a browser plugin that you enter a domain, login and master password into. It then uses an algorithm to generate a long password you can use for a website of your choice. Every time you enter the same details, you get the same password. Read their website for an honest lowdown on the pros and cons of this approach. It might be right for you!
