What is Pauza?

Pauza is a screen time app for iPhone where focus is a game you win together. Most blockers rely on willpower — and willpower runs out. Pauza adds something stronger: a real stake and a friend on the other side.

CHALLENGE A FRIEND Pauza's core differentiator is 1v1 friend challenges: two people commit tokens and compete to scroll less. Whoever loses really pays — the loser's tokens go to the winner. Screen time is tracked automatically via Apple's Screen Time API, so there is no self-reporting and cheating is impossible. A real stake and someone watching make it far harder to reach for the feed — no other screen time app has this.

EARN SCREEN TIME BACK Instead of punishing users, Pauza rewards them: every minute spent off social media becomes tokens. Streaks multiply earnings, and progress is visualized through 15 "Aura" levels — from Dust (day 1) to Lumen (1,000 days).

BLOCK DISTRACTING APPS Limits on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and other apps are set in seconds, with three friction modes: Awareness (a usage counter on every open), Soft (each open costs tokens), and Hard (locked sessions where leaving early requires paying a token commitment).

PRIVATE BY DESIGN The blocklist never leaves the device — it's built on Apple's Screen Time API. Only an anonymous daily total syncs, so friends see minutes, never which apps were used. The optional avatar selfie is processed once and deleted, never stored.

FREE + PRO The core app — blocking, tracking, streaks and challenges — is free, with no sign-up required to start. Pauza Pro unlocks longer Hard mode sessions, extended challenges, and full weekly / monthly / yearly analytics. A macOS companion app syncs the daily score across devices.
