It can be used either as a read-it-later service or to save and organise bookmark. Differently from its main competitors, bookmarks can be organised using both folder and tags simultaneously.
Development was put into hiatus, but now it seems active again.
Like others here I got the impression the site was not being maintained. I used it for a bit but never got any support emails returned. I moved on to Bookmark OS and have not looked back https://bookmarkos.com
but bookmark os is not free at all, it is commercial tool
After a while seeking a bookmark manager to replace the default browser functionality, I decided to subscribe to Raindrop.io after checking a few different ones out...
I was unfortunately left very disappointed. Not only was the interface (browser sidebar and extension clunky and slow to load), the UI left me feeling incredibly frustrated, for example:
You can quickly bookmark the current page using the browser extension, no problem with that but it adds it to an 'Unsorted' folder (so gives you no option to change where you want to save the bookmark to) - if you then use the sidebar integration (Opera) to then move a bookmark from 'Unsorted', there is literally no way at all to do so. So you have to somehow launch the full app (I don't even know how you to do this other than going to the website and clicking the 'App' button from there) just to get the entire interface up full screen so that you click and drag the unsorted bookmarks to the right folders. It makes the 'one click' bookmark save completely pointless as you have to take about 50 additional clicks just to organise anything.
In multiple places, the interface lacks basic and what I would consider, priority functionality that you would expect with a bookmark manager. In the two days of trying to work with this app, I wasted about an hour of my time and only tried to save a handful of URLs before giving up.
Absolutely would not recommend this app. And the main reason I paid to upgrade was so that I can nest collections (create sub-folders for bookmarks) - well the app makes it so difficult for you to actually get to them, it makes it completely pointless even upgrading and paying so save your money!
That being said, masses of potential but until it can compete with the default browser way of bookmarking pages, then it offers nothing any better than what you already have.
would you share which alternative did you land on?
I have used Raindrop for years and am confused by some of the older comments. The support is always answering me whenever I need it and the apps are always updated and easy to use.
free, easy to use, and syncs across multiple devices and web browsers
I installed it before I realized this is not what I am looking for. Raindrop is nothing like Notezilla. It has brought to my attention that my review has nothing to do with the quality of the program, so I gave it an updated rating of 3-stars. I do consider installing & the ability to uninstall part of the overall quality of a program. So I leave the rest of my review intact. First, I had to go through the MS Store to download it. It gave no option as to which drive to save it to. And now, I cant find it to uninstall. I do not like when apps do that. My advice: Be sure you want this before you download it.
What does any of this have to do with the quality of Raindrop? You're just dragging down a great app's rating for no reason.
I take the time to organize my bookmarks for easy access and better productivity effecively.
