SweetWhisper is voice dictation that never sends your audio anywhere. Recording, recognition and deletion all happen on your own machine.
Hold a configurable key, speak, release, and the recognised text is inserted straight into the window you were already working in: a chat app, a document, a browser, an IDE. There is nothing to copy and paste. Voice activity detection trims the silence for you.
Three model families to switch between: Whisper for broad language coverage, Parakeet for more speed on the same hardware, and GigaAM for higher accuracy on Russian speech.
GPU acceleration defaults to Vulkan rather than CUDA, so it runs fast on AMD cards and on Intel integrated graphics as well, not only on NVIDIA.
There are no accounts and no telemetry. The app reaches the network for three things only, and each is visible and can be switched off: downloading a model you picked yourself, checking for updates, and sending an error report, which is off by default.
Dictation itself is free and unlimited. Pro is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, and adds text processing, translation and task modes; it is free for the first 14 days after install. The Android app is free, with no ads and no account.
The desktop interface is in English and Russian, and the Android app is translated into 14 further languages.
Stated up front: the desktop app runs on Windows 10 and 11 only, and the source is closed.
