Requires no additional apps unlike the upstream version.

Doesn't support writing to external SD cards without a complicated workaround (moving all your files inside the app's Android folder on the external SD card??)

Other apps have no problem with writing to any folder on the external SD card, after asking permission, but Syncthing cannot for some reason, so it's a useless app. What good is a syncing app that can't sync?

On the contrary one could think that this very (and actually quite simple to use) workaround is the real deal. With it you can sync in read / write mode from an Android mobile phone whose internal storage can't cope with all your data but has an external sd card slot. And even on an older phone such as a Samsung S7 edge, with a plain Class10 sdcard, modest writing speeds still make it quite usable and reliable as a system. All in all imho a crucial addition to the standard Syncthing Android wrapper.

What is Syncthing-Fork?

This app is a fork of the Syncthing-Android wrapper for Syncthing that brings major enhancements like: Folder, device and overall sync progress can easily be read off the UI. "Syncthing Camera" - an optional feature (with optional permission to use the camera) where you can take pictures with your friend, partner, ... on two phones into one shared and private Syncthing folder. No cloud involved. (deprecated) "Sync every hour" to save even more battery Individual sync conditions can be applied per device and per folder (for expert users). Recent changes UI, click to open files. Changes to folder and device config can be made regardless if syncthing is running or not. UI explains why syncthing is running or not. "Battery eater" problem is fixed. Discover other Syncthing devices on the same network and easily add them. Supports two-way synchronization on external sd cards since Android 11. Supports encrypted folders on untrusted devices. Partial Android 15+ support regarding the run condition monitor due to Android restrictions.
