Every time I see Teamspeak is still in "business" I am astounded; this is a company that:

Gives attitude when asked to support modern hardware/software Charges some of the highest fees around for their broken, unusable android "app" Offers an absolute trash installation and setup experience full of bugs Refuses to innovate or develop the system whatsoever in 10+ years

Honestly F these guys, this is trash and it's only used at all by people who don't want to change, even for the better.

Teamspeak is/had been the best voice application any mammal can use in this world. Zero theft from users, thus you must pay for a licence etc. It is a great many years, I still cannot find a replacement for Teamspeak. The world has gone mad in this time, all flock to products that steal every thing from you.

Absolute nonsense. Imagine confusing self-hosting support with a good client. If you want to self-host there are FAR better VOIP applications - Stoat, Matrix and more absolutely obliterate Teamspeak and have free applications unlike Teamspeak.

From what I've read, it's more private and more secure than Discord, so hey! We got a positive going on!

But a few concerns I may know of (I have not yet tried it):

  • "Requires own special hardware", even in the free plan (server license). And the fact that users will wear a headset with an integrated microphone... I might need some clarification on all that.
  • You can host one of your own servers for free, at least I think that's what it's trying to tell me. Hmm...
  • Not as popular as it used to be (overtaken by Discord X~X)... But I feel like that might change with the new update going on right now.
  • (Personal gripe) Proprietary, not open-source. And it's not as private as say, Revolt or Element, but I can't say that I'll force that upon TeamSpeak.

Maybe it's the user-friendliness of Discord that's hitting me, because I otherwise don't have a 100% clear understanding of TeamSpeak.

Call quality and easy to use. All that is needed for programs of this type. Teamspeak is good in this regard

What is TeamSpeak?

TeamSpeak is a proprietary Voice over IP software that allows users to speak on a chat channel with other users, much like a telephone conference call. A TeamSpeak user will often wear a headset with an integrated microphone. Users use the TeamSpeak client software to connect to a TeamSpeak server of their choice, from there they can join chat channels.

The target audience for TeamSpeak is gamers, who can use the software to communicate with other players on the same team of a multiplayer game. Communicating by voice gives a competitive advantage by allowing players to keep their hands on the controls.
