It works way better than Windows voice typing
It is the best Windows alternative to Super Whisper and remains free to use as of November 2025.
It works better than Dragon NaturallySpeaking and way better than Windows VoiceTyping. The AI features are nice to have, but its main strength is dictation (automatic speech recognition). Honestly, since I'm using this app, I am barely using my keyboard anymore.
WhisperTyping is an easy-to-use tool that integrates seamlessly into your Windows workflow. It works in every text box, and the shortcut to activate it is very handy.
It has made me much more fluent in replying to online messages on platforms like Slack and WhatsApp.
Now, I just speak my thoughts, and the software handles the rest. It can even refine messy or jumbled thoughts into clear sentences using the rewrite feature, which is far better than leaving a jumbled voice message.
If you've tried old school dictation apps on Windows and got frustrated with them after a couple of weeks, give this a go. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
I also want to give a shoutout to the developer and creator of this tool for providing it for free.
It sends requests to OpenAI's Whisper model for translation, which obviously costs money each time. It's very generous of them, and I'm very grateful that it's available.
