WinFF is a GUI frontend and batch parser for the command-line multimedia tool FFmpeg. WinFF works by making a batch file that runs in the command-line, designed to launch the command-line tool with given settings from a preset.

simple and it works on linux. Great range of presets too.
Does not work on Windows in case folder name contains non standard characters like ešcržýáíé
Besides being the best video converter in existence, it is also an audio converter, AND it can convert a video INTO an audio format (instead of trying to rip it, which can loose quality).
Out of any video converter on linux, I use this one the most. It is the easiest and seems to produce the best output in video quality. It comes loaded with a lot of excellent presets.
