Pretty interface, albums and photos statistics and it is open source. It has great potential.
It seems app {v1.13.9} collects data from you as say Win11 does or worst. You cannot use app unless you agree to terms collecting the data.
The app is also available on F-Droid, and through this alternative distribution channel, there are no Google telemetry requirements.

It offers a very handy tagging system if, for example, you want to tag a photo with both ‘family’ and ‘holidays’. Tags can also be used to view photos by location, etc. A very handy and comprehensive feature for editing, adding or deleting EXIF data and metadata. It doesn’t yet support JPEG XL (.jxl) or cloud storage. Nor does it have AI for detecting objects in a photo. But I actually find that almost better for my purposes.
Wonderful gallery app which supports both a "camera roll" view and separate folder view, copying/moving between files, viewing metadata... just perfection
Aves is a powerful photo gallery app, yet lightweight (only 23 MB for the non-Play versions).
Comes with a lot of features you might like, which can be a bit overwhelming at first. I highly recommend getting the Libre version if you'd rather stay away from Google services bundled in too.
Aves can edit XMP metadata - title, description and tags, allowing easy cataloguing and searching files on phone or those transferred to PC.
