Comments and Reviews
HuggingChat is an open-source conversational AI platform developed by Hugging Face, designed to provide a free, customizable, and powerful alternative to proprietary chatbots like ChatGPT. It leverages advanced machine learning models, primarily from Hugging Face’s extensive library of pre-trained transformers.
The bad reviews here currently miss the point of what HuggingChat is about. They literally just opened up the chat and started typing with whatever first free model came up.
When you start a session, you can select from a variety of models available in the Hugging Face ecosystem, such as Llama 3 by Meta, Mixtral by Mistral, or Gemma by Google. This is done through a simple dropdown menu in the interface.
Unlike closed-source alternatives, HuggingChat’s open-source nature allows developers and users to tailor its functionality, making it much more useful than just utilizing an API.
Its become more and more dumber lately. Just sad how censored and manipulated its become.
@jacworleo, I don't think you understand what it is. What is becoming dumber? What model are you using?
When I asked it to recommend literature on certain topics - it just made up random titles and random authors. When I asked it to recommend me documentaries and TV series on certain topics - it calls almost the same movies regardless of the topic, and also makes up random titles, and uses music album titles rather than documentary titles.
It's fine for very simple tasks, but overall it's a waste of time. But I guess this is more of a complaint with the models than with the service itself.
Anyway, thanks to the developers and for what is available.
I expected a completely free experience, but you'll need to create an account and you'll quickly notice the paid plans. Even so, HuggingChat is still a solid option if you want easy access to open-source models without setting everything up locally.
I used the Online to ask a Regex question, and the answer was pleasantly direct and thorough.
amazing, open-source
It's free but you can upgrade to use it more often and it's more cheaper.
There must be an android app for android users only apple devices are supported as of now.
