Really, just install Kubuntu, choose "encrypted LVM" and enter a secure password. The awesome LUKS integration does everything for you, and you have an extremely safe computer, with just a few clicks.
LUKS is also perfectly integrated with Dolphin and KDE, so that you are asked to enter a password when mounting the drive (not needing to open Veracrypt and searching manually) and this password can also be stored in your Password manager, being comfortable and, using secure user and encryption passwords, being really safe.
Basically Bitlocker (Windows) for Linux. Version 2 hasn't been cracked, and is open source!
Im using LUKS on my Kali Linux distro along with NUKE option. This is fantastic. Put in the failsafe passcode and everything becomes obsolete. Insert the backup LUKS files and you recover it back. Must have for encryption.
