This has completely replaced Google Calendar icon Google Calendar for me. It's private, since I can run it on my own server, so I'm in control of my data. It supports everything I need it to do. And it syncs easily (using CalDAV) in both directions with just about everything I want to use it with: Thunderbird icon Thunderbird, Vivaldi icon Vivaldi, GNOME icon GNOME, macOS icon macOS and Android (using DAVx5 icon DAVx5). On Android I currently use Simple Calendar icon Simple Calendar.

The only platform I've had trouble syncing calendars with was Microsoft Mail and Calendar icon Microsoft Mail and Calendar, which has been discontinued anyway.

Nextcloud Calendar is "[a] calendar app for Nextcloud," [0]. But I don't use Nextcloud. I'm just looking for a standalone calendar.

Some mobile apps are listed as alternatives here. Nextcloud is a web app, and I was actually looking for a calendar server, not client app. There is no Nextcloud client app other than the one that comes with the web interface.
