Opera

Proprietary data hog with no special functionality.

Opera is completely outclassed by Vivaldi. The opera team is too blinded by integrating AI and maximizing profit.

I miss what Opera used to be, back when it was the scrappy underdog of the browser wars. These days it's just another Chromium clone, with a bunch of spinoffs that might make sense to investors and a bunch of extra features I don't need.

Its spiritual successor Vivaldi is also built on Chromium, but their focus still seems to be on making a good browser that works for the person using it instead of working to squeeze out more profit for the conglomerate.

Back in the day, Opera was a 10/10 browser.

Now it is just another Chromium clone, but with possible security flaws and known connections to third parties. It is a meme-browser trying to cash-in on trends.

Functionality works like it should; in fact, it's even better than Google Chrome. The real problem is (and it's the same complaint that everyone else is pointing out) that Opera was acquired by a Chinese firm, thus now being majorly privacy-invasive. And (this is my opinion) for whatever reason, it's now milking its own brand of browsers; Mini, Neon, One, GX, and now Air. A favorable successor there would be Vivaldi for those interested.

I was originally gonna rate this two stars because Opera at least works better than Chrome (I tried Opera for almost a year). However, annoyingly, since Opera really wants to push its browser spinoffs out there in hopes of people switching from Chrome (and that's probably gonna be the case too, I think), I changed my mind about it.
