What is PDFluent?

PDFluent is a native desktop PDF editor for macOS 11 and newer and Windows 10 and newer. It is a public beta release, available as a free download for everyone including commercial use. The application is built with a pure Rust engine across 48 crates, with no C or C++ dependencies, and the same engine is sold commercially as the PDFluent SDK. The download is 34 MB on macOS and 19 MB on Windows.

The software allows users to read, edit, redact, and sign PDFs, as well as add annotations and fill forms. All processing happens on the device; files never leave the computer. There is no cloud step, no telemetry, and no requirement for an account or sign-up. The application runs without a subscription or seat-based licensing.

PDFluent is funded by a separate commercial SDK for developers, which allows the desktop editor to remain free. The editor has no paid tiers or upgrade paths.

As a public beta, the software is still under development. XFA legacy form rendering is experimental.
