first-time user, simple clip cutting of a simplescreenrecorder capture: after some orientation and looking up the keyboard shortcuts, cutting and exporting again worked without hiccup. can recommend

A lot of progress to do but beautiful interface made in GTK3 ! A lot of potential to become the "Final cut pro" of GNOME.
Simple and intuitive, but not very precise. It's like a fisher price video editor. Chromium has proven that just because it's intuitive doesn't mean it has to be annoying. If the PiTiVi devs just keep working on it, it'll be closer and closer to perfect. :)

I wanted to try PiTiVi because I heard it was going to be in the next Ubuntu release. I hope it has improved a lot towards it's stated goals of usability since the version in the 9.10 repos, because I couldn't figure out how to make it do anything useful at all. Kino works OK.
Its a nice and simple interface, but it cannot do much, I would recommend Avidemux over this program.
Since PiTiVi is a non-linear editor (multiple tracks), that's not really an option. For better examples see here: http://alternativeto.net/tag/non-linear-editor/
