Dendron is a markdown files organizer. The real usable what you see is what you get markdown editor extension for visual studio code is Unotes. Dendron uses the metadata of markdown files to store hierarchical structure, tag, date, and time, as Joplin does. The graph view is created according manually typed namespace.
What many consider a feature (integration with VSC) is the main downside for me. I don't really want another hefty extension loading in VSC.
Greatest note workflow i've ever used. Support for local storage and markdown, along with it being built right into vscode makes this hard to beat.
Dendron is awesome, incredibly fast to create and link to new notes. Very actively developed with a roadmap to add many features.
Dendron's use of flexible hierarchies works the same way that I think. It helps me organize and manage 20k+ markdown notes and its constantly getting better with weekly updates!

I think it's the most sophisticated (not complicated) note-taking software.
