Propably the best Windows Explorer Alternative you can get for free, at least in my opinion.
It has loads of possibilities to customize views and behaviour (but can sometimes be a bit awkward or confusing)
It takes a bit time to get used to, but then it is really nice to use.
And the best: its free, has no ads, and is highly customizable.

Truly awful. I've used loads of different file managers on different OSes and this is the worst by far. There's no logic to the menu system, the settings don't save, it doesn't matter how you set the panes up they start as 50/50 all the time. You're better off sticking with Windows Explorer than using this.
I use this file manager more than any of the others I own. It is highly configurable. I have a default configuration that I apply whenever installing it on a new machine. Of course it is portable too, One of the features i use most frequently is verifying checksum of downloaded files.
Way back when, there was a OS named neXT. One most common thing on it was its so called "Dock" for program launching. When Steve Jobs saw it, he knew that it was what he wanted for his new MAC-OS: And there came OSX. Well he made it fancy. Glass Buttons, Flyouts etc... good for sales... but the simplified logic and the clean appearance was gone. I see the same happening with file commanders. Windows Explorer... eeeek !!! Multi Commander is absolute true to what was proven right once ! Remember Directory Opus 4 on Amiga ? That is how filemanagement is done right ! Multicommander preserves that clean logic to the Windows World. Very well done Mathias Svensson ! BIG KUDOS ! ..... Some people seem to be stuck to MS explorer philosophy. To those: look behind the horizon ! Try to digest how this is meant. And to the "Brutalism" comment: For you was the MAC story above... please try to understand how simplicity can sometimes be just better than fancy... effectivity is key here. For me this Filemanager is simply brilliant, period. When the Amiga times ended back then, i missed Directory Opus 4 desperately. Now i feel like, it is kinda back, well at least its concept is. Thank you Mathias !!
Gawd-awful ugly. It's 20th Century Win3.1 Brutalism. Perhaps it works but I just can't stand to look at it. Maybe this is why people switch to Macs.
Edit: sigh It does work fairly well although some interface elements can't be enlarged or modified (ie, tiny buttons). Perhaps I'll get used to it. Added a couple of stars. But it remains pretty darn ugly.
Good features are inherent, but they are inconvenient to use. It is not user-friendly and not sophisticated.
No "Find File" Search Toolbar 6/6/22 I see there is a very visible Find Icon. Maybe I didn't have latest version.. what's more, there's more types of search. Raising 2 star, maybe another later.
