Google Tasks is a feature of Gmail and Google Calendar, but I'm looking for a standalone to-do list.

You should really try Quire (https://quire.io/) if you're looking for a nested to-do list!!!

The description on AlternativeTo says, "An award-winning cloud-based project management software [that] aims to help collaborative teams organize and manage –– from small enterprise projects to large-scale initiatives." I'm looking for a to-do list for myself –– not project management software for a team.

It's free and integrated with Google apps which I prefer.

The following points are negative for me

  • It can only be used as a part of Google Calendar. The display column is small, so it is hard to see when writing notes about the task contents, etc.
  • If you sort by date after creating subtasks, the subtasks are also included in the sort order. When a parent task is the only one with a due date, subtasks and parent tasks are displayed separately. The parent task of a subtask is not displayed, making it difficult to see the relationship between tasks.

best free tasks manager especially I like the feature it is integrated with Gmail so we can use it from Gmail too.
